| It's been a very tough
month+. We have Greta in school 5 days a week now. You'd think
that would be a good thing, but it's from 9 - noon every day. For
those of you non-parents out there, let me translate why that's a bad
thing...
Three kids means starting at 8:15, getting
them fed, dressed, shoes, jackets, out the door, chasing them out of the
yard into the car, buckling them into a two seat back-seat, and driving
them to the school (with at least one screaming about something).
Now, unbuckle them all, carry Tess, chase Jack, try to get Greta into her
class, and Jack OUT of it...all said...45 minutes on a good
day. Then get Jack away from the park at the school after 30
minutes, buckle back up, drive home, unload, and undress (jacket, shoes,
etc). It's now 9:45 (at the earliest). That means in one hour
and 20 minutes, start the process over again. Now (luckily) you have
only 2 kids, but at this point, Tess is sleeping, and Jack is well into
playing with something REALLY important. So wake up the baby (try
not to, but forget it), drag Jack away from the weeble-wobble farm, bundle
them up, fight them back into the car, to the school, Jack, no park
now....get Greta, OK, now back to the park, with Tess screaming, Greta
running left, Jack running right, and some other kids trying to touch, or
punch, or bite any other child within an arms reach....pack em back up,
drag em home, pissed that they had to leave the park, and equally angry
that they're starving, get em home, out of the car, into the house, make
lunch...fight them to eat it, whatever it is, they hate it (but they loved
it yesterday) clean up lunch, follow Jack around with a trash can (every
room he enters looks like the Tazmainian devil came by), then get em all
ready again at 3 for either Jack's class, or Greta's ballet class, or
WHATEVER! JEEZ!! I'm exhausted just typing it. Now, do
that every day, and you can see why I have so much
respect for this woman. I want to punch something when Jack won't
eat his beans. I would NOT be able to do what she does!
But other than that, things are
great. Really, things are good. I whine, mostly for comedic
effect, but I really can't complain. I have an unbelievably loving
wife, three BEAUTIFUL kids (did you see that picture?), and a nice warm
home to raise them in. Life is good. Thanks to my wonderful
family too. Mama Hart is a gift from God. How could I possibly
ask for a better mother in law? And my parents are always here for
us, whether it's to provide love, or laughs, or babysitting time...they
are always there....and now we get to enjoy Aunt Bonnie here (literally 2
blocks away)...I swear to God, I must have done something really good in a
past life. Like Mother Theresa and Gandhi had NOTHING on me!
Whatever it is, I can't believe I deserve it this good. Thanks
everyone, for making the world my children grow up in so rich. I
love you all very very much. Look at these kids huh!?! |
