July 2006

July was absolutely FILLED with activity!  With 3 of the four weekends being dedicated to Maggie's Dad's 65th birthday, it was jam packed with fun fun fun.  One weekend we spent with the entire Hart family.  Uncle Mike, Bev, Tim and Greg came up to hang with the locals.  We had a really good time.  My favorite part was easily "adults night out" Friday at the Irish pub.  Luckily I didn't have to drive :)

We also spent a weekend in sunny Sheboygan, Wisconsin.  It was really nice.  We stayed at the Osthoff hotel (where Maggie and I spent our one year anniversary) and got to swim, and play on the beach, and hang together and relax.  Happy Birthday Dennis, and thanks a MILLION to Moe for comping the entire thing for everyone!~  He's fantastic.

The 4th of July was packed in there, and we had a very scary event occur.  I've detailed it below...

.......
Today Maggie and I experienced a very scary situation that runs shivers down the backs of every parent.  Maggie called me at work this afternoon, crying, and said "I think the baby is drowning...come home". It was on my cell and as I yelled "WHAT???!?!?!?!" the call dropped off (I HATE NEXTEL).  I raced home (I live .4 miles away) to a street crowded with cops, ambulances, fire trucks, and every neighbor on the block out on their lawns.  I ran into the house, and Maggie was holding the baby.  She looked OK.  I asked the six Evanston municipality workers that were in my living room what had happened and they told Maggie to tell the story again. Maggie said that she was giving the baby a bath, and Jack came into the bathroom with his box of toys. He dumped the toys into the tub (he thinks this is funny). Maggie shoo'd Jack from the bathroom and scooped up all the toys. She took them back to his bedroom and put them away (30 seconds maybe?). When she walked back into the bathroom, the baby was under the water and blue.

Needless to say she freaked, grabbed our half-conscious baby from the water and pounded the liquid from her lungs. She called the paramedics, then me.  By the time the paramedics got there (7 minutes later), Baby Teresa was regaining her color, and starting to recover. They took us to the emergency room, took x-rays, (one at 3pm, and one at 7pm) and she was deemed OK. She was released at 7:15 with a clean bill of health. Thank the Lord Jahosaphat.  Pretty damn scary.

I hope none of you have to go thru anything like this in your lives. It was a very humbling experience, and yet another reminder of just how precious life really is.
.......

It has been a very eventful month.    With everything that's happened, I am actually kind of looking forward to an slow lazy August.  Wish us luck on vacation.  Enjoy the 98 pictures...(oh, I almost forgot.  Teresa had a RUTHLESS reaction to her MMR shot, and had a full body rash for a couple of weeks...needless to say it was an interesting month).
