January & February 2007

This past couple months have been rather uneventful.  Teresa is definitely growing up though.  She's starting to talk already.  We're watching her climb up on things she couldn't get up on just a few months ago, and you can tell she's starting to realize that she's a little sister.  She wants to be included in everything.  She gets mad if Greta and Jack get something she doesn't, and she's already graduated to a big girl seat (no more booster chair).  She's fearless too.  She'll climb up on ANYTHING, and jump off.  And she's fiercely independent.  She'll tell you right to your face NO!  And you don't even have to ask her a question.  She's funny already.  I love it.

Greta and Jack are good.  Jack's speech is slowly getting better. he's still having trouble with some of the more challenging sounds, but I think he'll be OK.  Greta is still enjoying school.  She said yesterday "I have 2 boyfriends, Sammy and Dillon".  Sammy is the boy next door, and Dillon is the cutie from her school.  Seriously...already?   C'mon, you're 5.  I'm not ready.

Maggie told me she went out with the "cool mom's" the other night.  Went out whoopin' it up.  She also said that she thinks she may be on "the blacklist" with some of the other mom's because she stood up for the "Two-Way Immersion Program" at the School Board meeting last month.  I guess the lily-white moms from the north side are worried about all the "Latin influence" in the school, and were trying to get the program removed.  Maggie, being the well-rounded, multi-cultural mama that she is, stood up and spoke to the school board (it was on TV and everything).  Looks like that may have rubbed some women the wrong way.  There's an 'Outsiders' feel to the women of the school. The greasers and the 'soches'.  She's been getting some dirty looks from time to time.  I say HURRAH!  Stand up and make some noise.  We're going to put Jack in the TWI Program when he's ready for school.  We think it's a good idea to get the boy immersed into another language early.  By the time he's in 5th grade, he'll be 100% fluent in Spanish.  Pretty cool right?  So I guess it's been a busy few months after all.  Just nothing worthy of pictures.  I wonder if I can find a picture of Mags on TV.  We'll see.  Enjoy the few we have.  See you in a bit....
