Ireland Day 3:
On the third day we set off to see the Cliffs of Moher and traversed one of the most spectactular roads I've ever seen. I almost fell off one of the cliffs though. Very scary. Ireland is really as beautiful as you've heard. The Cliffs are breathtaking, and Maggie made me climb down and look over the edge. I'm still nervous talking about it. (see B&W photos). After we left the cliffs, we were off to Tralee. It was about 120 miles to Tralee. When you see that number, you think, "eh, that shouldn't take more then two, maybe three hours tops." But then you get out on to one of Ireland's many "highways", and you literally crawl up the most winding roads imaginable , behind a truck, while driving on the wrong side of the car, on the wrong side of a two lane road...for 120 miles. Slow going is right. By nightfall (which really makes the driving hard...no streetlights...ANYWHERE) we were fearing we were lost. Luckily Maggie was our navigator! She led us right to it. We ate at a quiet little restaurant in "the city center" and hit the hay early. Another long day ahead. |
