April 2006
It was another fun month. Work is
killing me though. Greta's birthday weekend was great.
I stayed home from work on that Friday and went to Greta's school.
She loved it. I loved it more. How exciting is it to be able
to see your kid in action? Real life. Out in the big
time. It's amazing. What
I can't believe is that there's already ego and self-consciousness in 4
and 5-year olds. Sitting in a room full of kids, and watching them
interact with each other is pretty amazing. It really makes you
think about when you were a kid, and how scary things were. You're
out of the safety of your own home, totally exposed and alone, trying to
figure out how to act and how to think. Then watch your 5 year old
go through it. Knowing exactly what that facial expressions
means when she is listening to a group of kids talk, and the conversation
is suddenly thrown to her, and she kind of freezes up for a second, eyes
darting between the kids in the suddenly quiet crowd. On the spot,
your turn to talk, say something.... Isn't it a drag that
things never change? Even today, you all know exactly how that
feels. How strange and wonderful it is to watch your children
grow. OK, talk to you next month.
