Tourney #1 - Geerts
Geertz Hurtz
Everyone in Innaugural RWPL Tournament!
EVANSTON, IL -- 4/30/04 - The innaugural Red Waters Poker League
tournament was AWESOME!
25 of the 29 participants showed-up and the only person
disappointed was ... Brungie ... who finished dead-last. Kelly
Geertz had one of the lower chip stacks heading into the final
table, but pulled out several big hands and won the tourney.
The final table
consisted of (in order of coolness) Big Red, Chris Brown, Tito,
Jesse Waterkotte, Jason Weiss, Guppy, Uncle Donnie and well,
Geertz.
With enough chips
to feed Brendan's Mom, Geertz was able to all-in Big Red, who
had $5,000 left (just enough to meet the blind) and eliminate
him. Jason Weiss was in the same position on the following hand
and he went down.
For the win,
Geertz got 250 points, followed by Jason's 200 and Big Red's
175. 4th place went to Chris Brown (150) and Jesse Waterkotte
(125) had 5th place "all figured out." Rounding out
the top-10 were Tito (120), Guppy (115), Uncle Donnie (110),
John C. (105) and Keith (100).
Judd was #11 (but
#1 in our hearts). Tom Lawler 12th, then Brian Waterkotte, Andy
R., Berko, Marc Ruffino, Chuck (What's up?), Noah, Uncle Pat,
Diego, Jay Rosensomething, Jake Wisby, Andy Loria, Packer Tom
and good ole Brungie!
Thanks
to:
~
Uncle Pat for picking up the poker tables ~
~ Jesse for being a great host ~
~ Judd for picking up the food and odds & ends ~
~ Brung for scooping up the keg ~

The anticipation was well worth it. There were a few minor
glitches before getting started, but once we got going, things
moved smoothly and all of the players were great. We learned a
few things along the way and we'll improve the next time around
- including adding another keg to the mix, as we ran low a while
before the playing ended.
If you've got any
comments, send them over to me and I'll get them posted for
everyone to see.

George, you're a Father now.
