Postcards from 2003

| Lots of pictures of these two
together. The new dynamic duo. Christmas was fantastic. We
had FIVE Christmas's to do, so needless to say we were exhausted.
Maggie's Dad's, Maggie's Mom's, OURS, my parent's, and The Milwaukee contingency's
Christmas were all very nice, and the kids were very good. It's
getting cool because Greta is starting to figure out what Christmas means
(at least the "open more presents" part of it). I will have
pictures from these events when they come back from the Photomat. I
have posted pictures here from
the past month of us just hanging around the house.

| Yeah, I've found that the
monthly photo update seems to be gratuitous enough. Otherwise people
think I'm obsessed with aggrandizing my children, which I really am not, I'm
just extremely proud. I also think it's going to be too hard to keep
separate photo pages for each kid. And God forbid we decide to have
3! Anyway, this month's photos are good. I have added them here
so you don't have to go searching. I went to a party on Saturday
night, and someone actually came up to me, angry that I hadn't updated the
site yet this month! I thought that was very cool. I guess I'm
slowly creating a cult following. Nice!

| Another month goes by, and
another picture happy daddy goes crazy. I am still trying to figure
out how I'm going to do this....should I have individual pages for Greta
pictures, and Jack pictures...or should I just combine the kids from now
on? Poor Jack gets no exclusives though! Maybe I'll do it when
Jackson notices he's lacking exclusivity. I figure monthly updates
will probably do. Click here for this month's
photos...

We're doing lots of stuff to the new house, and
I'm so sore I can hardly move anymore. I told Maggie, I have muscles that
are sore, that I didn't even know I had. Jesse is an amazing
carpenter/landscaper/painter/brother. He's helped me for the past few
weekends, fixing and repairing our new home, and he's happy to do it. I
tell you...if you ever get a chance to work with Jesse, do it...you won't be
sorry. Here's the latest work we've been doing, and I actually think he's
going to help me build a front porch NEXT weekend! I need to thank him
somehow...send me suggestions...in the mean time, check out the new
page...

It's been a little
while since I've updated the site, so I have a lot to catch up
on. We did another ultra-sound today, and the new baby is
completely healthy. Whew! We have a lot of pictures to
update, and I have changed the site a little, so keep your eyes open
for new links. I also got my
hands on some new photos from the
family
reunion (from 3 years ago), thanks to Rege Dinkle. He's the most
handsome (self anointed "senile") second cuz I have, and
he's my new e-pen pal. So thanks Rege! I also have some
pictures of the new house (a more comprehensive collection is due
next update). We visited cousin Petie last weekend, and had a
wonderful time. You might remember Pete and his family from
the pictures down the page here, but they look way different
now... Enjoy the new pictures, call your mom and dad, and keep
smiling. |

Greta's birthday party was today. What fun we had!
Greta got lots of neat stuff, and I got a belly full of wonderful snacks and
beer. Thanks to the family for coming to celebrate with us, and for making
it so easy to enjoy. Some people dread getting their families together,
but our family really seems to get along, and it makes for a great time.
This is a picture of the newest Waterkotte. Oh boy, here we go again... |

Here
it is...we've officially moved into the new house, and we're loving
it! I will update the progress as we fix her up slowly but
surely. you gotta love moving. It's like getting a new
start in life. Starting over. All the work you put into
the last home is gone. It almost seems worthless until you
remember how much fun you had doing it. I can't wait to start
on this one. |

This week was a miraculous week in the Waterkotte
family, as Papa Waterkotte was officially diagnosed a cancer survivor. Pup
was diagnosed with prostate cancer last October, and the
initial feedback was grim. But after some help and advice from a friend
(also a cancer survivor), he found a very progressive specialist that knocked
the cancer out in little over 3 months. He's recently been given with a
clean bill of health by his doctor, and is CANCER FREE! I don't know what
to think about it...but I have a feeling that modern medicine mixed with a
little bit of love and prayer got him through it. Let's hear it for the
Julio Iglesias of Skokie...MIKE WATERKOTTE. |

Ready for
some BIG NEWS!?! Here it is! Read Greta's shirt. This is how I
found out about it too. Maggie made the shirt for Greta, and then e-mailed
me the picture. HOW COOL! I wonder if I'm the first person to ever
find this out via e-mail? I doubt it, but still pretty cool. Oh, another
big change we've been going thru...we sold our house. We found a nice place in Evanston, a mile away from Mom and Dad. TWO blocks
away from Jesse, and SIX blocks away from Maggie's mom. We close on March
13th! More to come... |
